A LETTER FROM DIANA
I have been in the dressmaking/bridal business,
Diana's
Couture and Bridal in Washington, DC since 1982. During that time, I have had the privilege
of meeting many clients of all races and shapes. I love challenges, and
being able to deal with each client individually, especially brides, is
such an interesting thrill for me.
As I learned, my clients come to me expecting to look the best with their
clothes, whether they are size 20 or size 0. My philosophy in this business
is to tell the truth, not what my clients want to hear but what it needs
to be done to their wardrobe to flatter their figures the best way I can.
Most of the time, I can "get away with murder" and tell them
to gain or loose a few pounds. I apologized for being too honest, but who
would know you better than your dressmaker? I am not a doctor or a plastic
surgeon, so I can't give you the shape you wish to have, but with my expertise,
I promise to give the best look I know how. As my clients always said "Give
me a figure." I am so devoted to my clients that I wrote a book "The
Asian Diet" with a wonderful nutritionist, Dr. Ida Laquatra, and Dr.
Barbara Moore, President and CEO of "Shape Up America!".
Now that you know what kind of challenge I have to deal with all these
years. This year, I am taking on a new mission. To all the future brides,
I realized you all could get so emotional and vulnerable during the preparation
for your big day. It started from the day he proposed and go on. Here is
Diana, " the gown doctor," to the rescue. That's how I felt when
I started this website "www.thegowndoctor.com." Having a problem
with your wedding gown, dealing with your bridesmaids, your mother or future
mother-in law's gowns, what kind of fabrics, what kind of design and so
long and so forth. If you cannot sleep at night, you could email me any questions
to relieve you tension. I hope you will feel preparing for your wedding
day as a beautiful memorable occasion of your life and not a nightmare.
Good luck.
